  • Steps When Making a Claim

If you have had the misfortune of experiencing an automobile accident or unexpected damage to your home or property, you may find yourself wondering how to proceed with notifying the insurance company of your potential claim.

The event of a claim can be a very stressful time. If your vehicle was damaged and necessitated a tow truck to take it from the scene of the accident, you will no doubt be wondering if you will be eligible to acquire a rental vehicle. If your home has been vandalised, you will want to know how to begin the process of advising the proper sources of your dilemma. You may have many, many questions.

The following is a list of some of the major insurance companies which we represent. If you are unsure of which company insures your property, please contact and we will help you navigate the claims process.

  • Preventative Measures

In the event of an auto accident, it is imperative that you take any action needed to save the lives of those involved and take “reasonable steps needed to save your auto from further damage.” Contact the police if the accident is: (1) the result of criminal activity; (2) if there is bodily injury; (3) if any of the vehicles have to be towed; or (4) if a driver is impaired or does not possess a valid driver’s licence or plate.

If you’ve experienced damage to your property, it is your responsibility to take steps right away to prevent further damage and to keep your property safe by covering or boarding up windows, securing broken doors, etc. Do not dispose of damaged items, before an adjuster has assessed them and your loss. If your loss is due to criminal activity, report to the police immediately.
